During this year OGA celebrated its Centennial.
This month, Sue Oberg attended the 2024 OGA Annual Meeting, representing CWGA as its OGA Director.
In attendance and with reports were the OGA CEO, the OGA President, OGA staff and program chairs as well as representatives from PNGA , USGA. and 80 Directors from golf clubs.
The OGA treasurer reported that the OGA Treasury is stabilized and well controlled but continues to have challenges as costs go up. The OGA fee of $41 is helping meet the challenges of continued rising costs.
Participation
It was reported that there are now 3.2 million USGA members and that OGA is one of the most active regional organizations. USGA has set a goal of having 5 million USGA members by 2026.
This year OGA included over 475 member clubs with 55,715 adult members and 3000 junior members (7th consecutive year of growth). There have been 1.44 million rounds posted this year by members with an average of 27 rounds posted per OGA member. Most clubs are using Golf Genius.
There were over 8,000 participants in WIP, Oregon Amateur Championship, Oregon Junior Amateur Championship, Oregon Senior Amateur, Adaptive Golf, and Oregon Mid-amateur Competitions this year.
GHIN Dues
Did you know that your OGA dues of $41 not only supports handicapping, but supports such things as course rating, conducting competitions, tournaments, Junior golf, the Evans Scholarship Foundation, PNGA, communication services, promoting the game initiatives, and administration?
